faves from new york fashion week

I’m no fashion writer, stylist, or designer but I do appreciate the time, effort and creativity it takes to put together a collection for Fashion Week. To me, simplicity reigned supreme at NYFW. Are designers foregoing form for function? Creativity for consumerism? As someone who works in an industry that is being directly affected by the “do more, with less” mentality of the federal government, it appears that the fashion industry is taking cues from the military in more ways than just the color of their uniform. Don’t fret where there’s simplicity, there’s juxtaposition with an incredible play with fabric and texture and “pops” of color. I have to say it’s going to take a whole NEW level of self-control and will-power to stick to my “minimalist” movement – fall is my absolute favorite time of the year! Oh my, visa card you might want to go to spring training this year.

Without further ado, here are a few of my faves from NYFW.

Am I black, white or a little bit of both?

Welcome to my house party, party
According to DVF, “It’s not about going to a party. It’s life as a party.” With these frocks, it’s more like “how to enter a party, party.”
