travel tip thursday: pack a pencil skirt, it’s versatile!

The key to packing for two weeks of work travel, with some personal time mixed in, is to pack versatile pieces, a black dress, white button down, grey sweater, etc. These are nothing new, but for my upcoming trip I’ve decided to do a fresh take on a classic silhouette – the pencil skirt.

My frock? An oxblood, Calvin Klein pencil skirt with leather trim and gold accents. Versatile? Yes. Typical? No. Oxblood has been a reigning color for seasons now, and can conjure a range of characters – preppy chic, sexy vixen or urban cool. And for me, Calvin Klein hugs my curves in all the right places in an appropriate manner. Definitely a go-to brand for me.

Without further adieu, check out how I plan to remix this piece:

TO WEAR FOR WORK

travel tip - feb 5 - preppy chic

– Ralph Lauren button down (old like this) // cardigan (old like this) // Charles David pumps (old similar here) // vintage cross body

SEXY VIXEN FOR NIGHT

See preppy chic above, but remove cardigan and unbutton a few of those top buttons 😉

TO EXPLORE THE CITY

travel tip - feb 5 - urban cool

– “I Love NY” t-shirt (available at any souvenir shop) // Adidas Originals Track Jacket (old similar here) // Hue oxblood tights (not pictured)  // MBMJ booties (old love these)  // Target clutch // Free People beanie

FOR ANYTIME IN BETWEEN

travel tip - feb 5 - contemporary casual

–  J.Crew denim skirt (old similar here) // Charles David pumps OR MBMJ booties (depending on my mood) // vintage cross body (similar here)

How would you remix this pencil skirt?
